Genealogy

NOTE: Barbara & Toni celebrate their 50th in 2010!!!

Toni’s lines are most closely connected to Palo Pinto and surrounding counties in Texas and Geauga and surrounding counties in Ohio and then Canton Glarus in Switzerland as well as the region of the former Landsberg an der Warthe, Brandenburg, Prussia - now Gorzów Wielkopolski, Lubusz, Poland. In the latter area the Prussian villages of Zanzin and Marwitz were the home territory of the paternal line. Additional lines of interest that connect to the TÜRK family in this region are GENSKE and WEIDHOFF.

Barbara’s lines are most closely connected to western Pennsylvania and then counties Cork and Tipperary in Ireland, Devonshire in England, Monmouthshire in Wales, and the Moselle region of France.

Areas of a general genealogical interest that transcend family relationships are all burials in Sturdivant Cemetery, Palo Pinto County, Texas, and all inhabitants of San Juan County, Utah – without regard to ethnicity. For researchers with interests in either of these areas, look-ups will be done.

The search for answers now extends to an evolved curiosity about those whom our nuclear family has expanded to embrace, i.e. daughters-in-law and the spouses of grandchildren. Eventually the parameters of the genealogical record of interest were established. Essentially the ancestral record of interest is that of included family members to 1500, but the primary focus is the American experience. The ancestries (biological & adoptive) of Toni & Barbara's  grandchildren and great-grandchildren are maintained online here.

Toni is a member of the Guild of One-Name Studies for the surname TURK and all conceivable variations of spellings of surnames that incorporate TURK as a root. The records of the TURK Surname Society are available online at WorldConnect. The reader may link to it here.
