Toni’s Career
Toni retired from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas in 1994 with thirty years of service credit. His last position was that of Area Superintendent in the Austin ISD. He and Barbara moved to Blanding, Utah, to make their retirement home. He was recruited to return to the field of education by San Juan School District in 1995. He served as their Federal Programs Administrator from July 1, 1995 to June 30, 2007. During this second career he also served as a consultant to the Moscow (Russia) Department of Education, and as an adjunct faculty member with Utah State University – his last class in Diversity Education concluded December 10, 2008. During the course of his career he was deeply involved with the education of indigenous peoples and he worked with the Khanty and Mansi in Siberia as well as with the Navajo and Ute in San Juan County, Utah. Toni now devotes his time to civic service and heritage activities
